Jonny Ellison grew up in the suburbs of Detroit. He learned about his passion for art while building fiberglass polar bears and painting murals downtown. At one point he thought he'd end up in the music business, but eventually came to his senses and became a professional designer instead. His first job paired him with another passion of his growing up in the Motorcity, the automobile. Building photo-real CGI vehicles and directing photoshoots gave him some VFX cred, while designing UI for touchscreens grew his interactive rep. After moving to LA, his next gig found him directing a team of 10+ artists to complete an entire interactive buildout at his client's headquarters. Concept development, storytelling, game engines, motion graphics, matte paintings, UI/UX, and a Hollywood-budget short film were all part of the scope of work.
He spent 2 years at Spinifex directing media and interactive engagements for Honda, Acura, Nissan, IBM and Visa.
After joining Imagination in Detroit, he helped launch 2 of Fordβs most important products to date: the Mustang Mach-E and the 2021 F-150.
When he's not in the office, Jonny enjoys traveling around the world with his wife and daughter.
